All classes take place on the following Saturdays:
Character Building: ages 7 & 8
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
This class encourages students to think on their feet while creating characters from their own imaginations. Using simple improvisational games, pantomime, and exercises that promote listening and concentration skills, students will develop the tools to further explore acting and performance.
Scene Study: ages 9 – 11
10:45 AM – Noon
Using scripted and improvised scene work, students will explore who, what and where, along with other elements essential in building characters. Students will learn how each of these elements affects and interacts with the others to create and drive the overall narrative.
Audition Technique: ages 12 – 16
12:15 – 1:45 PM
Students participating in this course will be introduced to theater pieces meant to prepare and enhance their auditioning ability. Through a series of monologues and short scenes, students will learn how to analyze dramatic works, giving them the ability to create material for future auditions. Students will also learn about cold readings and how to prepare for them.
