Winter Classes

 

Discovering Theater – ages 7 & 8

Building on the actor’s “tools,” this class goes a step further in encouraging students to think on their feet while developing characters from their own imaginations. Using simple improvisational games, pantomime, and exercises that promote listening and concentration skills, a foundation will be formed “setting the stage” for future work with scripted material.

Elements of Acting – ages 9 – 11

ELEMENTS OF ACTING will encourage students to begin the process of developing an acting “technique.” Using improvised scene work, students will explore who, what and where, along with other elements essential in building characters. Students will use their own past experiences to “act truthfully in the imaginary world of the play.”

January 5, 12, 19

Acting for Teens – ages 12 – 16

Exploring various methods of acting, students will begin to make choices about what works best for them in the development of an acting technique and approach to character development. Concepts such as actions, emotional and sense memory and substitutions along with others will be introduced to further students’ insights into technique.
