Sensory Friendly Performances
Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a welcoming and comfortable arts experience for autistic folks and others affected by sensory processing challenges.
Modifications include:
- Flags to warn about startling sounds or sudden movement
- Lower sound level, especially for startling or loud sounds
- A reduction of strobe lighting and lighting focused on the audience
- Guests may leave their seats during the performance (ushers will provide guidance)
- Designated quiet areas in the lobby
- Staff and volunteers trained to be inviting and accommodating to families’ needs
